Aslan K. Valiev

Dr. Valiev is a qualified specialist, he has mastered and implemented in clinical practice such advanced methods of treatment of spinal tumors as percutaneous vertebroplasty, percutaneous selective blockade of the spine and peripheral nerves, robot-assisted operations on the spine under control of a navigation system. He actively promotes techniques of minimally invasive interventions for treatment of spinal tumors. Dr. Valiev has extensive surgical potential, experience in all types of surgical interventions for treatment of bone and soft tissue tumors. He has performed more than 2,000 open and minimally invasive operations. Apart from practicing medicine, he actively conducts scientific research.

Education

In 1999, Dr. Valiev graduated from the Moscow Medical Stomatology Institute named after N.A. Semashko, Faculty of Medical Practice. Between 1999 and 2001, Dr. Valiev was a clinical resident with specialization in oncology at the N.N. Blokhin Russian Oncological Research Center. Between 2001 and 2004, he was enrolled in the clinical PhD program at the N.N. Blokhin Russian Oncological Research Center. In 2006, Dr. Valiev successfully defended his PhD thesis “Percutaneous vertebroplasty in treatment of patients with spinal tumors.” In 2013, topic of his DSc dissertation “Metastatic spinal tumors. Current capabilities of diagnosis, individual prognosis, personalized treatment” was approved.

Professional Experience

Between 2004 and 2012, Dr. Valiev worked as a researcher at the Department of Vertebral Surgery No. 9 of the General Oncology Division of the Scientific Research Institute of Clinical Oncology of the N.N. Blokhin Russian Oncological Research Center. Between 2012 and 2018, he was a senior researcher, leading researcher at the same department. Since 2019, he heads the Department of General Oncology, Surgical Department No. 1 of the N.N. Trapeznikov Scientific Research Institute of Clinical Oncology of the N.N. Blokhin National Medical Research Center of Oncology.

Dr. Valiev’s scientific interests include all types of surgical interventions for treatment of bone and soft tissue tumors.
