Dr. Sushentsov specializes in benign and malignant metastatic tumors of the bones, computer modeling and navigation, 3D printing and prototype development in medicine, minimally invasive techniques, oncological endoprostheses, complications prevention.
Education
In 2003, Dr. Sushentsov graduated from the Nizhniy Novgorod State Medical Academy with specialization in medical care. In 2008, he graduated from the PhD program of the N.N. Blokhin Russian Oncological Research Center. In 2010, he successfully defended his PhD thesis “Tactics selection for surgical treatment of spinal and paravertebral tumors”. In 2013, topic of his DSc dissertation “Tumor of the pelvic bone tumors (clinical aspects, diagnosis, treatment, prognosis)” was approved.
Dr. Sushentsov’s advanced training includes occupational retraining in surgery at the Russian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education in 2013, a course in oncology at the N.I. Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University in 2014; “3D Printing for rapid product development” course in Singapore in 2015; “Extreme Orthopaedic Academy” in Istanbul, Turkey in 2015, “Total joint replacement in oncology” course in Tel-Aviv, Israel in 2017.
Professional experience
Between 2009 and 2012, Dr. Sushentsov worked as a researcher at the Department of Vertebral Surgery of the Division of General Oncology at the N.N. Blokhin Russian Oncological Research Center. Between 2008 and 2010, he worked at the Healthcare Commission of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation. Between 2012 and 2020, he was the head researcher at the Department of Tumors of the Musculoskeletal System of the Division of General Oncology at the N.N. Blokhin Russian Oncological Research Center (currently N.N. Blokhin National Medical Research Center of Oncology). Since 2020, Dr. Sushentsov is the head of the Surgical Department No. 14 (oncological orthopedics).
Scientific Interests
Dr. Sushentsov scientific interests include primary malignant, benign and metastatic tumors of the bones, soft tissues; pelvic tumors; oncological endoprostheses; complications prevention, minimally invasive techniques; computer modeling and navigation; personalized treatment of sarcoma of the bones and soft tissues based on individual prognostic factors; development of bioimplants, modular and individual prosthesis systems.
Publications
Dr. Sushentsov has authored 36 scientific articles in Russian and international journals, 2 patents for inventions for medical purposes. He is the deputy editor in chief of the Bone and Soft Tissue Sarcomas, Tumors of the Skin journal.
Membership in professional medical organizations
Since 2009, Dr. Sushentsov serves as the academic secretary of the East European Sarcoma Group (EESG).
