Education
In 1998, Dr. Kornushenkov graduated from high school No. 507 specializing in chemistry and biology. In 2003, he graduated from the K.I. Skryabin Moscow State Academy of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Biology. In 2003–2004, he studied at the PhD program of the Russian State Center for Animal Feed and Drug Standardization and Quality. In 2011, Dr. Kornushenkov successfully defended his PhD thesis “Pharmacodynamic effect of different combinations of propofol with drugs of other groups for intravenous anesthesia in dogs.” In 2017, topic of his DSc dissertation “Clinical and morphological justification of use of bioimplants and irradiated reimplants in organ-preserving surgeries in dogs with bone tumors” was approved for specialization in oncology.
In 2005, Dr. Kornushenov completed a course in anesthesiology and reanimation at the Filatov Children’s City Hospital; in 2006, a course at the Department of Neuroanesthesiology at the N.N. Burdenko National Medical Research Center of Neurosurgery.
Professional experience
In 2001, Dr. Kornushenkov started working at the Biocontrol veterinary clinic first as an assistant of a veterinary anesthesiologist, then in 2003 as a veterinary anesthesiologist; in 2006, he became the head of the Department of Anesthesiology and Reanimation of the clinic, and in 2011 – chief physician of the clinic. In 2008 he also started working at the Experimental Therapy Clinic at the N.N. Blokhin National Medical Research Center of Oncology, and in 2011 he became the head of the clinic.
Dr. Kornushenkov and his colleagues were the first to organize an international congress of the Association of Veterinary Anaesthesists (2013) – AVA Autumn meeting, Moscow; In 2014, a Russian branch of the Swiss Veterinary Anaesthesia School for Technicians – VASTA – was opened and Dr. Kornushenkov became its head.
As a lector, Dr. Kornushenov has presented reports and taught master classes all over Russia, from Saint Petersburg to Vladivostok, as well as in neighboring states Ukraine and Belarus.
Scientific interests
Dr. Kornushenkov’s scientific interests include veterinary anesthesiology and reanimation, development of optimal method of treatment of done tumors in animals, use of extracorporeal detoxication in intensive care of animals with septic complications, neutron capture therapy of spontaneous tumors in animals.
Dr. Kornushenkov was the first in Russia to describe a method of hemosorption in dogs and to implant more than 100 venous access ports.

Dr. Kornushenkov has authored 132 publications (including 13 international) on anesthesiology, oncology, neurology including 4 books: Immunological Pathogenesis of Sepsis and Use of Hemosorption for Treatment of Cancer Patients with Sepsis (2014, New York, Nova Science Publishers, Inc., co-author), Oncology of Small Pets (2017, co-author), General Problems of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care for Small Pets (1st and 2ns Eds: 2016, 2018), 2 textbooks for undergraduate students, a publication in Deutsche Veterinärmedizinische Gesellschaft Eigenschaften der totalen intravenosen Anaesthesie und intensiven Therapie bei neurochirurgischen Eingriffen bei Hunden (2008), 3 patents for inventions (co-author).
Dr. Kornushenov regularly attends AVA Meetings (Spring 2009, Helsinki, Finland; Spring 2012, Davos, Switzerland; Autumn 2013, Moscow, Russia with a report “Anaesthesia and intensive care for cancer surgery in small animal patients”; Spring 2020, Dublin, Ireland), WSAVA congresses (2010, Geneva, Switzerland; 2012, Birmingham, UK; 2017, Copenhagen, Denmark), SEVC conferences (2011, Barcelona, Spain; 2012, Barcelona, Spain with a poster “Limb-sparing surgery using a bone graft with autologous mesenchymal stromal cells for dogs and cats with primary bone tumors: report of 3 cases”), Nestle Purina conferences (2012, Saint Lois, Kansas-City, USA; 2013, Paris, France). He also participated in EVECCS congress (2009, Berlin, Germany), ESVONC (2015, Krakow, Poland with reports “Prospective study of limb-sparing surgical technique using bone grafts in animals with malignant bone tumors”, “The use of totally implantable venous access ports in veterinary cancer patients”), Royal Canin conference (2016, Montpellier, France), Virbac-Vetprom (2016, Cannes, France), conference of the Association of Italian Veterinary Doctors (Farmina) (2017, Rimini, Italy). In 2014, he was specially invited to visit the University College Dublin in Ireland.

Dr. Kornushenkov is the President of the Russian Anesthesiologic Veterinary Society (since 2009), member of the Association of Veterinary Anaesthesists (AVA) (since 2009); member of the Moscow Cancer Society (since 2012); head of the V.N. Mitin School of Postgraduate Eduction (since 2010); head of the branch of the Clinic based at the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology named after I.E. Mozgov of the K.I.Skryabin Moscow State Academy of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology (since 2010), head of the branch of the Saratov State Agricultural University (since 2012), member of the editorial boards of the Russian Veterinary Journal (since 2010), World of Veterinary Medicine (Ukraine, since 2012); member of the task team in problems of improvement of the regulatory framework for distribution of narcotic and psychotropic pharmaceuticals for veterinary use (since 2013), member of the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management – IVAPM (since 2018), head of the expert committee of the National Veterinary Chamber (since 2018).
Awards
Dr. Kornushenkov received letters of appreciation from the Association of Practicing Veterinary Doctors (2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014); letters of appreciation from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Saratov State Agricultural University (2013, 2014); in 2010, he received a diploma as the best supervisor of an undergraduate work at the 83rd Conference of the K.I. Skryabin Moscow State Academy of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology; in 2021, he became a laureate of the National Veterinary Award “Golden Scalpel” in the “Teacher of the Year” nomination; same year he was awarded the Excellent Worker of Public Health decoration for his productive work, professional skills and personal achievement in his many years in the sphere of public health. Also, in 2021 he received Pro Excellence Award Purina Partners in the “Historical Experience” nomination.
