Education
In 1989, Dr. Kaprin graduated from the Moscow Medical Stomatology Institute named after N.A. Semashko. Since 1993, Dr. Kaprin participates in certification courses on oncology, urology, radiology, organization of healthcare and public health. He is a doctor of the highest category specializing in urology, oncology. Between 1994 and 1996, Dr. Kaprin studied at the PhD program at the Urology Department of the Moscow Medical Stomatology Institute named after N.A. Semashko. In 2000, he successfully defended his DSc dissertation with specialization on oncology, diagnostic radiology, radiotherapy. Between 2007 and 2010, he studied at the Russian State Academy of Governmental Service under the President of the Russian Federation.
Professional experience
Between 1992 and 1994 Dr. Kaprin worked as a clinical resident at the Urology Division of City Clinical Hospital No. 50. In 1996–1997, he worked as a senior researcher at the Scientific Research Institute of Oncology. Between 1997 and 2007, he supervised the Urology Lab at the Russian Scientific Center of Roentgenology and Radiology. Between 2001 and 2010, he supervised a course in urology at the Department of Surgery of the I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University. In 2007–2010, he served as a deputy director of scientific research at the Russian Scientific Center of Roentgenology and Radiology. Between 2010 and 2013, he was the chief physician at the City Clinical Hospital No. 20. Since 2013, Dr. Kaprin serves as the director of the P.A. Hertsen Moscow Oncology Research Institute. Since 2014, he holds the positions of executive director of the National Medical Research Radiological Center and head of the Department of Urology and Operative Nephrology at the Medical Faculty of the Russian University of Peoples’ Friendship. Since 2016, he also heads the Department of medical radiology of the Engineering and Physical Institute of Biomedicine of the National Research Nuclear University. Since 2018, he serves as the president of the Association of Directors of Centers and Institutes of Oncology and Radiology CIS and Eurasian Countries. In 2019, he became the president of Russian Association of Oncologists.
In 2005, Dr. Kaprin received a title of Professor of Oncology. In 2009, he became a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Education, in 2011 – of the Russian Academy of the Medical Sciences, in 2014 – of the Russian Academy of the Sciences, where in 2016 he became an academician.
Awards
Dr. Kaprin has received the title of Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation, Award of the Government of the Russian Federation for science and technology. He is the chief non-staff oncologist of the Ministry of Health of Russia.
