Education
Between 1974 and 1980, Dr. Gofur-Okhunov trained as a clinical resident at the Oncology Department of the Tashkent State Medical Institute. In 1980–1981, he was an intern at the clinic of the Research Institute of Oncology and Radiology of the Uzbekistan Republic where in 1983 he completed a residency program. In 1986, he graduated from the PhD program of the All-Union Oncological Scientific Center, in 1992 – from the DSc program.
Professional experience
Between 1986 and 1987, Dr. Gofur-Okhunov worked as a junior researcher at the Research Institute of Oncology and Radiology of the Uzbekistan Republic. In 1987–1990, he was a teaching assistant at the Oncology Department of the Tashkent State Medical Institute. In 1990, he worked as a senior researcher at the Research Institute of Oncology and Radiology of the Uzbekistan Republic, in 1992 he became head of a laboratory, leading researcher. Between 2001 and 2010, he served as a scientific supervisor of general and pediatric oncology at the Republican Oncological Center of the Uzbekistan Republic. In 2010, he became the chief physician of the Tashkent City Oncological Dispensary. In 2000, he started supervising the Oncology Department of the Tashkent Institute of Improvement of Doctors.
