Education
In 1986, Dr. Belyaev graduated with honors and a gold medal from the S.M. Kirov Militry Medical Academy. In 1992, he completed postgraduate military course at the same academy. In 1993, he successfully defended his PhD thesis “Morphological and functional characteristics of soft tissues around a gun wound”, in 2004 – his DSc dissertation “Cytoreductive operations and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy in combinations treatment of advanced forms of abdominal cancer.”
Scientific interests
Since 1998, Pr. Belyaev has been developing ways to help patients with advanced cancer and tumors of the peritoneum. He was one of the first doctors in Russia to perform cytoreductive operations with hyperthermic chemotherapy of the abdominal cavity. He was organizing emergency and palliative care for oncological patients.
Publications
Pr. Belyaev has authored more than 200 scientific articles and one monograph; he had supervised 10 PhD and 3 DSc dissertations.
Awards
Pr. Belyaev has received a Certificate of Merit and the Excellent Worker of Public Health decoration, Medal for Merit to the Fatherland in Healthcare.
