Education

In 1982, Pr. Teplyakov graduated from the Kyrgyz State Medical Institute in Frunze. In 1993, he successfully defended his PhD thesis “Treatment of lung metastases of soft tissue sarcomas”; in 2000 – his DSc dissertation “Perosseous osteosynthesis in patients with primary malignant and metastatic tumors of the long bones” with specialization in oncology. He trained at the leading oncological and orthopedic clinics in Europe (Germany, Italy, Switzerland) and USA.

Pr. Teplyakov holds certifications in traumatology and orthopedics, oncology.

Professional experience

Pr. Teplyakov has practiced oncological orthopedics for more than 30 years. Between 1983 and 1987, he worked as a surgeon at the Department of Musculoskeletal Tumors of the Kyrgyz Research Institute of Oncology and Radiology in Frunze. Between 1987 and 2005, he worked at the N.N. Blokhin Russian Oncological Research Center. In 2005–2014 he created and supervised the Surgical Department of Oncological Orthopedics at the P. Hertsen Moscow Oncology Research Institute.

Pr. Teplyakov is a highly experienced oncological surgeon, he has mastered all types of surgical interventions including extended, combination, reconstructive and plastic, vascular, minimally invasive (vertebro- and osteoplasty, radiofrequency thermal ablation) for treatment of primary and metastatic tumors of the bones, soft tissues and skin located on the trunk, pelvis, limbs, spine, retroperitoneum, pleural cavity. Pr. Teplyakov implements current methods of chemotherapy of primary malignant bone tumors, soft tissue sarcomas, malignant skin tumors.

Publications

Pr. Teplyakov has authored more than 200 scientific articles, 9 monographs, 6 patents for inventions, and 6 new medical technologies.

Memberships in professional medical organizations

Pr. Teplyakov is a member of the Moscow Society of Oncologists, Russian Oncology Association, European School of Oncology, East European Sarcoma Group, Dissertation Committee D 208.047.01 at the P. Hertsen Moscow Oncology Research Institute; he is an expert of the East European Group on Soft Tissue Sarcomas and Melanoma. Pr. Teplyakov is a member of the editorial board of the Bone and Soft Tissue Sarcomas, Tumors of the Skin journal.
