Education

Dr. Machak graduated from the Kishinev State Medical Institute. He completed his residency and PhD studies at the N.N. Blokhin Russian Oncological Research Center and successfully defended his PhD dissertation “Immune status of patients with osteogenic sarcoma and Ewing sarcoma”. He continued his DSc research at the N.N. Blokhin Russian Oncological Research Center and subsequently defended his dissertation “Current capabilities and perspectives of osteosarcoma combination treatment”. He holds a certificate of specialist in oncology.

Professional experience

Dr. Machak specializes in diagnosis and treatment of tumors of the musculoskeletal system and skin; use of combination therapy in treatment of malignant tumors; chemotherapy of bone and soft tissue sarcomas including regional chemotherapy as a stage in organ-sparing treatment of tumors of the extremities; ultrasound ablation (HIFU) in treatment of primary and metastatic bone and soft tissue tumors and as a part of treatment of generalized forms of cancer; personalized treatment of bone sarcomas taking into account combination therapy prognostic factors and monitoring.

Scientific interests

Dr. Machak works on expansion of indications for organ-sparing interventions in locally advanced benign and malignant bone and soft tissue tumors using current drug therapy regimens (chemotherapy, targeted therapy), development of personalized (risk-adapted and response-adapted) approaches to treatment of patients using current medical imaging methods and in vivo response evaluation; development of indications for economical resections in bone sarcomas based on tumor biology and use of cutting-edge achievements of radiation therapy; justification of ultrasound ablation in treatment of primary and metastatic tumors, improvement of methodology and expansion of indications for clinical use.
